Dive tender in Morgan City told me he watches the manifold gauge more than me, and it got under my skin
We were killing time between bell runs at a yard on the Intracoastal and he told me straight up that after 19 years he trusts the gauge over the man in the water, because gauges don't get tired. I laughed it off at the time but I caught myself double checking my depth readings on a 60 foot job two days later. Any of you old hands actually run it that way, or is that just a tender's way of saying he got burned by a diver before?
