TIL the difference between reading comics at a big chain store versus a local shop
I went to a Barnes and Noble last month and just felt like a customer. Then I visited a small place called The Comic Vault, and the owner talked to me for 20 minutes about the new Moon Knight run. That personal connection is the whole point of being a fan. Does anyone else have a favorite local spot that gets it?

Ngl, my local shop saved me from dropping a book I almost quit. The guy at the counter saw me grabbing the last issue of a run and just said "stick with it, the next arc explains everything." He was totally right. That kind of help you just don't get from a big store where no one knows the stories.

That's a lucky break for sure, but honestly it feels like a coin toss. My local shop guy once talked me into a whole run that went completely off the rails. Sometimes that personal touch just means you're getting one person's strong opinion, not actual help.
