Shoutout to the baristas at Drip House on 9th for making me move tables when I spread out
I used to grab the big corner table at Drip House on 9th every Tuesday and cover it with my laptop, charger, notebook, and cold brew. Last week a barista named Maya walked over and asked if I could shift to a two top because a group of four was waiting. I felt weird about it at first but then I looked around and saw three other people doing the exact same thing, hogging four seats with one butt in a chair. Now I grab a small table first and only spread out if the place is dead, and honestly people actually talk to me more now. Anyone else notice this is a thing at their spot, or is it just me?
Watching this happen at my spot too and it drives me nuts. People roll in solo, grab a four top, then act shocked when staff asks them to move. That corner table is prime real estate and you were basically camping on it for hours. Good on Maya for saying something, most baristas just seethe quietly and let it slide. Once you stop claiming a whole zip code for your cold brew, the room actually feels less weird.
