Serious question, does anyone else think loud coffee shops beat quiet ones for deep work?
I tried a silent library room for a week and got less done than at a busy spot on 5th St with a $4 latte and two guys arguing about crypto, so now I want to know if the noise is actually helping me focus or if I am just fooling myself.
Is it really that serious though? Dude, you did a whole week in a library and came back to crypto bros yelling about dogecoin like that's some kind of science experiment. Maybe the noise just keeps you from getting bored, not from getting smarter. I could chug a red bull in a mosh pit and feel super focused too, doesn't mean the pit helped. Try the loud spot with no latte and see how much you get done, bet it's the caffeine and the pressure of paying rent on that $4 drink doing the work.
