Tried the 4:6 pour method on a whim last Tuesday and I am not going back to my old swirl
Everyone at my local shop in Sacramento keeps telling people to stir the bloom with a spoon or give the V60 a big swirl, and I finally just ignored all of it. I started doing a plain 4:6 pour with no agitation at all, just slow circles every 45 seconds on a medium grind, and my cups came out sweet and even for the first time in maybe 6 months. The swirl was actually pushing fines down and choking my drawdown, which I only figured out by timing each pour on my phone. Now I want to know if anyone else ditched agitation completely, or am I just getting lucky with this one bag of Ethiopian beans?
