My buddy the roaster swore by storing beans in the freezer for freshness
Tbh I was skeptical at first but I tried it with a bag of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe from a shop in Portland. After 3 weeks in the freezer the beans tasted flat and stale compared to keeping them in the airtight cabinet. Has anyone else had better luck with that method or am I just doing it wrong?

Ngl the ziploc trick is the only way freezer storage works.

That ziploc trick is one of those things that seems too simple to work, but it really does. It's like how people overcomplicate other stuff in life, like organizing a closet or fixing a squeaky door. Everyone wants a fancy system or a special gadget, but half the time the answer is just a piece of tape or a rubber band. Same with freezing food - everybody buys those expensive vacuum sealers, but a good squeeze in a bag does the job just as well. It's a reminder that most of life's small problems have a cheap fix, you just have to think about it for a minute.

Hey man, did you let the bag warm up all the way before you opened it? I made that mistake once with a bag of Guatemalan beans and the moisture from the air got all over them. They tasted like cardboard for a week. I've had better luck if I portion them out in little ziplocs first and just pull one out the night before I need it. But honestly I still think room temp in a good jar works way better.
