I gave up on single-origin hype and my wallet thanks me
I used to buy only single-origin beans for their unique flavors. But mixing blends gave me a more consistent and enjoyable experience every morning. Why do we put so much stock in origin stories when the blend often tastes better?

That Ethiopian Yirgacheffe I bought last month was so acidic it made my teeth hurt. Blends smooth out those extreme notes into something actually drinkable every day. Is the single origin trend more about marketing stories than what's in the cup?

Actually, not every single-origin is super acidic like that, @sarah_fox33. I mean, it can depend on the roast a lot. Blends are reliable, but a well-done single-origin can be just as easy to drink every day.
