The library in my town put a bike repair stand outside and it's getting used way more than I expected
I walk past the main branch on Elm Street every morning and about a month ago they bolted a repair stand with basic tools right next to the bike racks. At first I figured it would sit there unused, but I've counted four or five people using it on my walk alone, one guy even fixed a flat at 7am before work. It made me think about how much stuff like this matters for getting people to actually ride instead of drive for short trips. The tools are on cables so nothing walks off, which is smart. Does anyone know if other cities do this and where the money came from? I want to bring it up at the next council meeting.
