Rant: 3 years of curbside compost and my bins finally stopped smelling

Started a municipal pickup program back in 2021, but the liner bags kept ripping and attracting flies here in Austin. Switched to freezing scraps in a repurposed milk jug until collection day, now zero odors and the truck takes it all. Has anyone else tried freezing with a regular old jug instead of buying those fancy compost pails?

Remember to rinse the jugs out first, or even frozen juice smells can sneak back into the plastic.
