That Tuesday in March where three jobs went sideways before noon
Had a day back in March that I still think about. First job, a customer in Clifton had me come out for a creosote build up, turns out their flue liner was cracked in two places. Second job, my vacuum hose split halfway through the sweep and I had soot all over their carpet. Third job, I dropped my flashlight down a chimney and it took 45 minutes to fish it out with a magnet on a string. By noon I was ready to quit. But then the afternoon jobs went smooth as butter, two easy cleans and a cap install that took 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a day where the universe just piles it on, then flips a switch? What's your worst string of bad luck on the job?
Wait, you dropped a flashlight down a chimney and fished it out with a magnet on a string, that's both terrible and impressive at the same time. I had a similar Tuesday where I showed up to three different houses and every single one had a locked gate, a snarling dog, or both. By the third one I was just sitting in my truck eating a sad granola bar wondering if the universe had it out for me. Then the last job of the day went so perfect it was almost creepy, like the chimney gods felt bad and decided to throw me a bone. Honestly those days make you question everything, but they also make you appreciate the easy ones way more.
