Warning: soaking beans overnight is the step most people skip and it's costing them
I grabbed a 2 lb bag of pinto beans at a store in Austin for $1.89 and made four days of meals out of it, but the first batch came out crunchy because I dumped them straight into the pot. The fix was a free one, just cover them in water before bed and let them sit 8 hours, and the next pot cooked in 40 minutes instead of an hour and a half. Does anyone else soak, or am I the last person to figure out the cheap way is usually the slow way?
