The frozen veggie bag I stopped buying after checking the math
I always grabbed the store brand frozen mixed vegetables because it felt like the cheapest route. Then I did the per pound math at the Smart & Final in Sacramento last month and it was actually pricier than buying fresh carrots and celery on sale, plus the bag was 60% carrots and corn fillers. You pay for water weight and convenience, and the portion it makes is smaller than you think. Anyone else find a 'cheap' item that secretly costs more per serving than the fresh version?

Wow, I was the same way and always grabbed the frozen bag without even looking at the label. Once I actually weighed what I got versus a bunch of fresh carrots and celery on sale, the fresh side won by a mile and tasted better too. The fillers and water really do eat up what you think you're saving.
