Showerthought: I spent a whole Tuesday morning trying to explain to a client why a 'chatter lounge' isn't just a room with a lot of talking.
I was on a service call for a leaky faucet in a new office build-out. The foreman kept pointing to a space on the plans labeled 'Chatter Lounge' and asking if we needed to run a water line to it for a sink or coffee station. I had to tell him three times that, based on the other work I've seen, it's just a casual meeting area, not a break room. It got me thinking about how names for spaces can really confuse the trades. Has anyone else run into a building plan with a room name that completely threw off your material or labor estimate?

Oh man, that's so real. I once saw "innovation incubator" on a plan and the electrician ran a ton of extra data lines, thinking it was a server room. It was just some beanbag chairs and a whiteboard. Those fancy names cost that guy half a day of work.

My old foreman made us write the actual room use in pencil right under the fancy name on every plan. Like "collaboration hub (just a conference room)". Saved so many callbacks.

Wait, he asked about a water line for a chatter lounge? Three times? That's next level. I saw "wellness sanctuary" on a hospital plan once. The drywall guys showed up with soundproofing panels and special quiet vents. It was just a normal exam room with a potted plant. These architects are costing people real money.
