Warning: a guy in Cleveland told me to skip the tack strip on concrete, and I wish I had not listened
This happened about 8 months ago on a basement job in Cleveland, and I still think about it. He was a retired installer helping his nephew, and he looked at my tack strip on the slab and said "you don't need that on concrete, just glue the pad and stretch it." Sounded good and saved me maybe 45 minutes, so I did it. Three weeks later the edges were popping up along two walls and I had to pull the whole thing and redo it with tack strip and a proper underlayment, on my own dime. Has anyone else had a client or helper talk them out of a step they knew was right?
