That stretch-in tool I mocked for 2 years finally earned its place
I called the guy at the supply house crazy when he pushed that $140 manual stretcher on me, then I had to do a 12 foot wide hallway in a Cape Cod rental last month and fought the power stretcher for an hour before grabbing it. It took me 20 minutes to finish the whole run, has anyone else caved on a tool they swore they'd never buy?

That 12 foot hallway in a Cape Cod rental is the exact reason I bought one of those cheap manual stretchers last spring. I had a similar job in a tight upstairs bathroom where my power stretcher kept hitting the door frame and the baseboard, and I was about to throw it out the window. The trick with the manual one is you gotta lock it in at an angle and work it in small bites, not try to pull the whole run at once. Once you get the rhythm down, it's honestly faster for those awkward spaces. I still reach for the power stretcher on big open rooms, but the manual one lives in my truck now. That $140 I spent hurt at the time, but it paid for itself on that first job alone.
