Can we talk about how everyone wants LVP now and my carpet jobs are drying up?
Three years ago I was booked out 6 weeks on carpet alone, mostly bedrooms and stairs in the north side of Columbus. Last month I bid 12 jobs and 8 of them turned into luxury vinyl plank quotes after the homeowner asked if I could do that instead. One lady in Clintonville looked at my samples and said carpet just feels dated to her, which stung a little. I get it, the plank stuff is easy to clean and holds up to dogs, but I'm now doing stairs and closets for 2 rooms and calling it a day. I've started learning plank installs on the side just to keep the schedule full, but the margins are different and the tools aren't cheap. Is anyone else seeing their carpet work shrink like this, and if so are you picking up plank work or just riding it out?
