Dropped $600 on a fancy track saw thinking it would fix my cabinet work
Bought a Makita track saw about 8 months ago in Reno because I kept messing up long rips on sheet goods. The saw cuts great but my real problem was a $40 straightedge clamp and rushing my measurements. I've now made more money building a $90 jig than I ever did with the fancy saw, and the saw mostly sits in the truck. Anyone else buy a tool to fix a skill problem they had?
Used to figure a better tool would cover up my sloppy habits too, then watched a guy with a beat up circular saw and a homemade guide cut circles around my work. Turns out the money is way better spent on jigs and practice than on shiny stuff that just makes the same mistakes faster. Learning that one hurt my wallet but it fixed my head.
