Went to that career fair at the convention center last week and something clicked

I was walking around the tables at the Georgia World Congress Center, just grabbing brochures. A guy from a logistics company asked me what I really wanted out of a job, not just the typical questions. Made me realize I've been chasing titles instead of actual work I'd enjoy. Has anyone else had a random conversation at a fair totally shift what they're looking for?

Always liked how one honest sentence can stop a whole conversation in its tracks. @alex307, got reminded of my neighbor who said something similar after his truck broke down. Funny how the simplest comments sometimes carry the most weight.

Happened to me a few years back, walkin around a tech fair. A lady from a smaller startup just asked “what does your ideal Tuesday look like” and I had no clue. Turned out I hated meetings and wanted hands-on projects, not management stuff. So I started looking for jobs that actually let me build things instead of just talk about them. Might help to write down what you actually like doing day-to-day before you hit the next fair, makes the convos way more useful.
