VP at my old job ripped apart my resume summary line and it was 100% fair
I had one of those "results driven professional with a passion for excellence" summaries for like 4 years and thought it was fine. Then a VP at my last company, during a mock interview for a job I was going after in Chicago, read it out loud back to me and asked what any of it actually meant for the team that would hire me. He said swap every buzzword for a number or a named tool, so I rewrote it as "cut invoice errors 30% in 6 months using NetSuite and a rebuilt check flow" and my callback rate jumped. I got 3 interviews in 2 weeks after months of silence on the old version. If anyone else has a summary line that sounds like a fridge magnet poem, what did you swap yours out for?
