Rant: I spent 3 years saying yes to every project before I got it
I kept taking on every request that came my way, until a senior guy in Austin told me I was "the cheapest consultant in town" at a happy hour last Friday. How do you all decide which projects to turn down when the money is right there in front of you?
Man, this is like when you say yes to every happy hour invite and then wonder why you're broke and tired all the time. Saying yes to everything feels good in the moment, but you end up training people to expect it, and then they stop valuing what you bring. Sometimes the better move is to let a few things go so the right ones actually mean something.
