Paid $1,400 for a coding bootcamp in Austin and all I got was a certificate and a Discord invite
So back in 2022 I dropped $1,400 on this 12 week online coding bootcamp that promised job placement help and a portfolio. The whole thing was pre-recorded videos from like 2018, and the live sessions were just the teacher reading off slides. When I asked about the job placement part, they sent me a link to their Discord server and said to network there. I finished the thing in 6 weeks because I just wanted it over with, and the certificate was a PDF I could have made myself in Canva. I emailed them about the placement help three times and got one reply saying I should tailor my resume. My cousin did a free course on YouTube and landed a help desk job before I even finished. So if you are looking at any program that costs more than $500, ask for the names of actual people who got hired. Has anyone here actually gotten a job from one of these bootcamps, or should I just tell people to skip them?
