Got told my emails were too formal and it stung at first
My manager said I sounded like a robot in client emails after my first month. I dropped the 'I hope this finds you well' stuff and started using shorter sentences. Has anyone else had to totally rework how they write at work?

It's wild how so many of us have been trained to write like we're sending a legal document, but in real life nobody actually talks that way. Companies are finally catching on that being human is more effective than being proper.

Bet you half the reason we got so stiff in the first place is all those stupid style guides from the 80s and 90s that made everyone sound like a robot. Wonder if the shift back to normal is just because younger folks calling out the nonsense finally got heard.
