Question about those cheap plastic car ramps for long term storage, I owe my neighbor an apology

I always laughed at my neighbor Rick for parking his 1968 Camaro on $40 plastic ramps in his garage every winter, told him it was going to crack and drop the car. I finally tried it myself on my Miata because I needed the tires off the concrete in my damp garage in Cleveland, and six months later those ramps held fine with zero flat spots. The trick is getting ramps rated way above your car weight and checking them for cracks before you set them down. Has anyone else gone years on cheap ramps, or did I just get lucky?
