I finally figured out why my garage kept flooding and it was a $7 fix
For about 8 weeks my garage floor got damp every time it rained hard, and I kept blaming the door seal. Then a guy at the auto parts store on 5th asked if my downspout dumped right by the corner, and it did. Water was running along the slab and wicking under the wall, so I added a $7 flex elbow to push it 6 feet away. Three storms later and the floor is bone dry, which matters because I keep my grandfather's 1972 truck in there. Anyone else run into water sneaking in from the outside like that?
Did you ever check where the water went after it hit that elbow? I ask because I had the same thing happen on the back side of my place, except mine was the AC condensate line dripping by the corner for who knows how long. I kept seeing a wet stripe on the concrete and figured it was rain blowing in sideways. Turned out the drip line was clogged and overflowing right at the wall, so every time the AC ran hard in summer the slab got soaked. I ran a cheap vinyl tube out past the flower bed and it dried up in two days. My dad always said water is lazy and takes the easy path, which is why it loves hanging out right against a wall. Glad your truck is safe, that 1972 is worth keeping dry.
