Pancake perfection on a tiny camp grill took some trial and error
I love making pancakes when camping, but my small camp grill always burned them. After a few failed breakfasts, I found a SIMPLE fix. I started using a cast iron skillet on top of the grill instead of the grate directly. This spreads the heat evenly and prevents hot spots. Now my pancakes come out golden brown every time. It's WAY better than dealing with soggy or charred results. Trust me, this small change makes a HUGE difference.

Carrying extra weight kinda defeats the whole point of camping.

Switched to a lighter sleeping bag last year and it made a huge difference. I only brought one extra set of clothes and wore layers for warmth. Packed dehydrated meals to cut down on food weight. My pack felt so much better on long hikes lmao.

I always figured the grill grate was fine for pancakes, just had to watch them close. But mine kept getting black spots no matter how I adjusted the flame. After reading your post, I tried that cast iron trick last weekend. The heat spread so evenly, and I got perfect golden brown cakes without babysitting them. Now I'm a convert, and my camping breakfasts are actually enjoyable instead of a burnt mess.
