Finally got a better night's sleep with a simple tent mod

I always woke up with a sore back after camping, even with a good sleeping pad. Last trip I tried putting my folded up camp chair under the pad at my knees. It raised them up just an inch or two and took all the pressure off my lower back. Slept 6 hours straight for the first time in years. Anyone else got weird hacks for making a tent setup more comfortable?

Honestly, have you tried that trick with the backpack on a really uneven tent floor? I'm curious if it stays put or slides around when you shift in your sleep. Does it mess with the pad's air or foam at all?

Man that knee elevation trick is genius. I do something similar but I shove my empty backpack under my sleeping pad at waist level. It gives my hips a little lift and stops me from rolling onto my side and waking up with a numb arm. Also been using one of those cheap memory foam pillows I cut in half for under my knees. Game changer for real.
