Bear vault latch cracked 6 miles into a 3 day Lost Creek trip
The hinge pin popped out around mile 6 last Saturday and my food was just sitting there open all night, so does anyone have a fix that isn't just tape and hope or is this thing done for?

Had the same exact thing happen to mine two summers ago except it was the little tab on the lid that snapped clean off. I tried tape, a zip tie, even wedged a stick in there, but a bear would've had zero trouble getting in and honestly a raccoon probably could too. Save yourself the stress and just get a new one, the latch design on those things is weak and once it goes it's not really coming back.
