PSA: The antique mall in Dayton had a box of 'for parts' cameras with stripped screws on every single one.

I spent an hour looking and every body plate was mangled by someone using the wrong driver. Has anyone found a good source for vintage replacement screws that aren't junk?

Used to think any small screw would work. Ruined a nice Konica trying to force the wrong thread pitch. Now I only buy from that one guy on eBay who specializes in camera hardware.

Ever see a friend strip the brass threads on a Leica lens mount? My buddy did that with a generic screw from a hardware store kit, total nightmare. He learned the hard way like you did, @jessica_robinson23, and now he's super careful about matching the exact screw specs. He spent more on the proper replacement than he did on the whole repair kit.

Isn't it crazy how many people just grab the nearest tool and force it? I see this all the time with furniture and electronics too, not just cameras. It feels like a basic skill, knowing the right screwdriver, is just gone. Makes you wonder if they stopped teaching this stuff somewhere along the line.
