I finally figured out why my lens wrenches kept slipping

Went to a camera swap meet in Portland last Saturday and saw this old timer using a jeweler's screwdriver to tighten the set screw on his spanner. Lightbulb moment. I've been fighting with loose wrenches for like 2 years thinking they were just cheap tools. Took 30 seconds with a 1.5mm hex to fix mine when I got home. Anyone else ever miss something this obvious?

Funny how the simplest fix gets overlooked for years. I checked mine after reading this and sure enough, the set screws were barely finger tight. A drop of blue Loctite on the threads would keep them from backing out again.

Blue Loctite might be the most underrated tool in the whole garage honestly. People go buy whole new parts or spend hours tightening stuff over and over when a tiny bottle for like five bucks fixes it forever. Meanwhile I'm over here using the green stuff on basically everything that moves because I'm paranoid now. But hey at least you didn't strip the heads trying to crank them down like I did on my first attempt.

Wait, do you put green on stuff you actually plan to remove later or is it basically permanent for you?
