Had a shutter curtain freeze mid roll on a vintage Nikon F2 last night
I was testing a client's F2 from 1973 and the titanium curtain just locked up solid at 1/1000th. First thing I checked was the gear train - looked clean but the curtain brake seemed gummed up with some old oil. I hit it with a tiny dab of lighter fluid on a q-tip and worked the mechanism by hand about 20 times. Got it moving again but I can't trust it until I strip it down fully. Anyone else run into curtain drag on these old Nikons after they sat for years?

Check if the foam mirror bumper is turning into goo and causing drag.

@scott.jana that's a pattern I keep seeing with that foam honestly.

Nah @angela687 I've actually had decent luck with the foam bumper on mine so far, no goo issues yet but every batch seems different.
