Cracked the ribbon cable on a customer's Nikon last Tuesday, did I do the right thing?
I was swapping the lens mount on a Nikon D750 last Tuesday at my bench in Fresno and the ribbon cable for the aperture control snapped clean in half when I tried to lift the flex. I ended up sourcing a $45 replacement harness from a parts body instead of telling the customer it was toast, mostly because he's a wedding guy and needed it back by Saturday. Would you have eaten the cost yourself or charged him for the part, because I'm still not sure I made the call right.
Wait, you got a parts body locally in Fresno that fast, or did you already have one sitting around? That flex snapping clean in half just from lifting it sounds like the cable was already on its way out, not something you really forced. Sourcing the harness and eating the $45 yourself seems fair since the customer got his camera back for Saturday, but I would have told him what happened so he knows for next time.
