Noticed something odd at the Santa Monica courthouse today
Went in for a small claims filing around 9am and saw like 40 people standing in line for the self-help desk. One guy told me he waited 2 hours just to ask if his form was filled out right. They only had one clerk on duty. Is this normal lately or did I just pick a bad day? Anyone else run into this at their local courthouse?

Honestly I kind of wonder if that's not a bad thing. I mean yeah it sucks to wait but maybe having one clerk forces people to actually look at their own paperwork first. I've seen way too many people walk into these places with forms that are half missing or totally wrong signatures. Two hours of waiting might make you double check if you actually need to be there. Plus those self-help desks are free right, so it's not like the court is making money off the line. If they staffed up more, they'd probably have to raise filing fees or something. I mean maybe it's just me but I'd rather wait and keep the costs down.
