Got hit with a $400 fine in Sacramento for a rule I'd never heard of
I parked in what looked like a normal spot near the Capitol last month and came back to a ticket for parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, which I honestly didn't know was a thing in this state. Has anyone successfully fought one of these, or is it just easier to pay it and move on?

The "20 feet from a crosswalk" thing got me too a few years back, except mine was in San Diego. What worked for me was going down to the courthouse and asking for a photo review, since the ticket should have pictures of where your car was sitting. I brought my own photos with a tape measure showing I was more than 20 feet back, and the judge tossed it. If you don't have proof like that though, it's usually easier to just pay it or ask for a payment plan.
