Tried taping the coax connector instead of crimping it, got a weird result on a job in Tulsa
I ran out of crimp rings halfway through a 12 outlet job in Tulsa last Tuesday, so I tried wrapping the connector with electrical tape just to get the tester to pass. It worked for about 20 minutes, then the signal started dropping every time the cable moved. Turns out the tape let the center conductor shift just enough to lose contact. Has anyone gotten tape to hold long enough to trust it, or should I just keep a spare box of rings in the truck?
