Serious question, an old installer in Tulsa showed me to leave the slack loop outside the box and my callbacks dropped

I used to stuff every inch of slack behind the wall plate like most guys on my crew, until an installer with 30 years in Tulsa watched me do it and shook his head. He said the loop belongs outside the box so the next guy can reterminate without running new cable, and after 6 months of doing it his way my callback rate went from about 1 in 8 to 1 in 20. Does anyone else leave the loop out, or do your supervisors give you a hard time about it?
