Tbh, I spent an hour untangling decades of old cables and found a missing remote from 1998.

My friend had a close call with his fridge wiring. Found two power strips plugged together and the plastic was all soft and warped. He said it smelled like burnt plastic for days after.

Forget just the cables, check the actual power situation. People always daisy chain power strips behind there until it looks like a spider web. Found three strips plugged into each other behind my aunt's fridge once, total fire hazard. The plug might be on a circuit already running the microwave and half your kitchen lights. That quick install turns into a full rewire if you trip the breaker moving the unit. Basic safety gets ignored for years because nobody ever looks back there.
