My crimper died mid-job on a big commercial run in Atlanta yesterday
I was halfway through terminating a 48-port patch panel when my Klein crimper just snapped at the hinge. Had to drive 20 miles to the nearest supply house to grab a replacement while the client's IT guy stood there tapping his foot. Anyone else had a favorite tool quit on them at the worst possible moment?

Did you try keeping a backup crimper in your trunk after that? I learned the hard way to ALWAYS have a spare after my Klein shears broke halfway through cutting kevlar cable. Now I keep a cheap backup in the glovebox, it's saved me twice on late night emergency runs. Having that extra tool means I can finish the job without losing client trust while I hunt for a replacement.

Shuddered reading "cutting kevlar cable." That sounds like a nightmare. I can't even imagine what happens when shears give out on that stuff. I just picture the cable winning and your hand losing. You must have arms of steel to even attempt that job in the field. Respect, but also a little bit of horror.
