Fought a hopper clog for 3 hours in the rain, then a 2 dollar trick fixed it
So I was out in Tacoma doing a drop line job and the rain was coming down sideways, and my hopper kept clogging every 15 feet or so. I must have pulled the rod out and cleared it eight times, soaked, cold, and getting more mad each time. My lead kept saying just push harder but that just packed it tighter and made it worse. Then I remembered a guy on a job in Spokane showing me how he lubes the inside with a cheap bar of plain soap before he starts feeding. I ran to the truck, grabbed a 2 dollar bar from my glovebox, and rubbed it down the feed tube. It slid through the rest of the 80 foot run with zero clogs, not one. Three hours of misery for something a bar of soap fixes in 20 seconds. Any of you got other cheap hacks like this for wet weather runs?
