Old timer's advice on pre-finishing paid off big time
A retired cabinet guy I met at a supply shop in Cincinnati told me to spray my drawer boxes before assembly, I thought he was nuts but just finished a 34-unit kitchen and cut my install time by 6 hours, has anyone else tried this and seen similar gains?
That old timer knew what he was talking about. I did the same thing on a big custom job a few years back, sprayed all the interiors and drawer boxes before final assembly, and yeah it felt weird at first. But the time I saved on not having to mask off hardware and fiddle with getting a gun into tight corners was huge. Plus you get a way cleaner finish on the inside corners, which customers notice even if they don't say anything. I've never gone back to finishing after assembly on drawers, it's just one of those things that sounds crazy until you try it and see the hours disappear.
