My cousin's lawyer told me to stop talking to the insurance adjuster, I kept chatting and lost my settlement

My cousin, who's been a CA disability lawyer in Fresno for 12 years, warned me not to say a word after my car accident but I figured I'd be nice and explain my back pain. Now they're using my own words to say I'm not that hurt and offering $3k less - who's had a lawyer's advice backfire or totally save their case?

Oh man, that's rough. One thing people don't think about is how insurance adjusters are literally trained to be your new best friend - they're super nice so you let your guard down and say stuff that sounds harmless but gets twisted later. Take this with a grain of salt, but I've heard that even saying "I'm okay" when they ask how you're doing can be used against you months down the road when the pain hasn't gone away.
