Just realized my disability lawyer was more honest than my last three doctors

I had a phone call with my lawyer in Fresno last Tuesday about my SSDI appeal and he flat out told me my chances were 50/50, no sugar coating. It hit different because every doctor I saw for my back issues kept saying things like 'we'll try this' or 'let's see how you feel,' but nobody gave me a straight answer. He broke down the hearing process step by step, what the judge looks for, and even said if I lost he'd help me refile without charging extra. Has anyone else had a lawyer give them a realistic picture instead of promising a win?

Them lawyers are trained to manage expectations, that's for sure. My brother went through a similar situation with his disability claim and his lawyer talked to him like a grown adult, broke down the weak parts of his case and what evidence he needed to get. Doctors are so worried about being sued or sounding negative they'll tell you the sky is green if it keeps you calm. That straight talk from your lawyer is worth more than ten vague "we'll try this" appointments, because at least you can plan your next move. And him offering to refile at no extra cost, that tells me he knows the system and is willing to work it for you, not just collect a fee.
