Update: I hit 7 straight smoke alarms from my toaster and finally switched to the toaster oven

I burned toast so bad so many times in a row that my smoke alarm went off on 7 straight mornings, and my roommate started calling me the fire drill. Then my neighbor in 4B knocked and said she could smell it through the wall, so I gave in and tried the little toaster oven sitting in the closet for 6 months. Does anyone else's toaster have it out for them, or is it just me?
