Set the smoke alarm off 11 times in one summer and my neighbor started keeping score
So I moved into this apartment over on Delaney Street back in May and the kitchen has this old electric coil stove that runs way hotter than the dial says. I did not know that at first. I burned pork chops so bad the first night that the whole place smelled like a campfire for two days. Then came the grilled cheese incident, which turned into a black brick, and about nine more of those little disasters over three months. My neighbor Marcus, who lives right through the wall, actually started jotting tally marks on a sticky note by his door because he could hear the alarm chirp through the drywall. When he showed me the note it had 11 marks on it and I just stood there in the hallway holding a pan of ruined quesadillas. The weird part is I got better after that, mostly by standing right at the stove instead of walking off to check my phone. Anyone else have an oven or stove that lies about its temperature, and did you ever figure out what setting actually works?
