My sister said butter the pan cold for the birthday cake, and now I own a lopsided hockey puck
She swore by it, so I did it for my kid's 7th birthday at our place in Fresno, and the cake glued itself to the tin and came out in chunks, so does anyone actually have a trick that works or was she just messing with me?
Buttering cold works fine in my mom's kitchen in Modesto as long as you grease it first with shortening, then the butter goes on top. Just butter alone on a cold pan never sticks right and your sis owes you a new cake.
