My mom said to put a slice of bread in the burnt rice pot and I laughed at her for 10 minutes
Last Tuesday I walked away from a pot of jasmine rice on high heat and came back to a black crust welded to the bottom. My mom said to lay a slice of plain white bread on top, put the lid back on, and wait 5 minutes on low. I told her that was some old wives tale junk and scraped at the pot with a wooden spoon until I gave up. Then I tried her bread thing and the crust lifted right off with a spatula, barely any scrubbing. So what's the actual move here, is bread just soaking up the burnt flavor or is there some other trick I should know about?
