The guy at the coffee shop who critiqued my bullet journal layout

Last Saturday I was sitting at a local shop downtown, working on my weekly spread for April. I had this simple two page layout with a habit tracker on the left and tasks on the right. This older guy leans over my shoulder and says "you're cramming too much in the left column, it'll throw off your whole flow." I was a bit annoyed at first, but he sat down and showed me how he uses a separate page just for habits with tiny checkboxes. He said he learned it after trying to fit everything into one spread for three months straight. We ended up talking for twenty minutes about how he codes his monthly logs with different colored highlighters. I actually tried his habit page method this week and it's working way better. Anyone else ever had a stranger give unsolicited advice that turned out to be helpful?

Did you try his colored highlighter system too?

Did you end up buying a whole set of markers just for one book? I tried doing that with my textbooks once and ended up with a rainbow mess that didn't help at all lol.
