Just realized my monthly spreads were killing my bujo flow

I used to do these huge monthly calendars with every event color coded and stenciled in. Took me like 2 hours each month to set it up. Then I noticed I never actually used them after day 3. So I switched to a simple weekly spread with just a task list and notes column. Now I spend maybe 10 minutes on Sunday night setting up the next week. Has anyone else found that detailed monthly spreads just dont work for how their brain actually processes tasks?

Honestly I gotta disagree hard here. Detailed monthly spreads are the only thing that saves my brain from total chaos. I tried the simple weekly thing and ended up missing deadlines because I couldn't see the big picture at a glance. Having everything color coded and mapped out for the whole month lets me notice conflicts weeks in advance. Plus it takes me 30 minutes tops because I just use a ruler and some basic lines, no stencils or fancy stuff. Ngl the act of setting it up actually helps me memorize what's coming up. Maybe you just needed a simpler version of the monthly spread instead of ditching it completely.

That "never used them after day 3" is the story of every planner I've ever bought. I have a drawer full of nice notebooks with maybe four pages written in each. The initial excitement just never lasts past the first week.
