I finally stopped trying to make one perfect monthly spread and it took me 4 months to get there
I kept redoing my monthly log because I thought it had to look like those clean Instagram pages with straight lines and no mistakes. Last Tuesday I sat at my kitchen table in Boise for 3 hours trying to fix one crooked column and I just gave up and started over in a cheap $6 notebook from Target. I realized nobody sees my journal but me, and a wobbly line has never once stopped me from writing down a dentist appointment. Now I just scribble the dates in pen and move on. Does anyone else keep a messy second notebook just so the nice one stays blank?
Man, I feel this in my bones. I went through the same thing with mine, kept ripping out pages because the boxes weren't even, and then one day I just stopped caring. What worked for me was switching to a plain lined notebook and drawing the calendar freehand with a pen I can't erase, so there's no going back and fixing it. My lines are crooked as hell and I've got coffee stains on half the pages, but I actually use the thing every day now instead of staring at it. A messy book you write in beats a pretty one you're scared to touch.
