Do you log the bad days or wipe them clean?
That Tuesday where nothing worked and my spread went blank
Last Tuesday in Portland was a complete write-off. Alarm didn't go off, coffee spilled on my weekly spread, lost my keys for an hour, and by 3pm I hadnt checked a single task. My instinct was to just close the journal and pretend that day never happened. But I forced myself to sit down at night and put an X over the whole column with one word: trash. Then I drew a tiny sad face next to it.
Now I'm debating if that was the right call. On one hand, marking it as a loss keeps my record honest, like a receipt for a bad meal. On the other hand, staring at that ugly X all week made me feel worse every time I looked at it, and I almost skipped journaling entirely on Wednesday because of it.
Some folks in my local meetup say they never log failures, they just flip the page and start fresh. Others say the bad days are the whole point of tracking, otherwise you're just keeping a highlight reel. I'm stuck in the middle. Does anyone else have a rule for how they handle a day that just falls apart? Do you mark it, decorate it, or delete it from the record?
