That chat with a civil engineer changed how I read blueprints
Met with a guy named Dave from Schaumburg last Tuesday over coffee, just picking his brain about drainage slopes. He pointed out a detail in my retaining wall plan that I've drawn a dozen times, saying I had the finish grade right but ignored the 3% fall behind the footer. It hit me that I've been copying details from old templates without asking why they are even there. Has anyone else had a pro casually explain something you've done for years, and now you can't unsee it?
